What does God want us to do with the special talents He gave us?

Yesterday, I had the privilege of being a speaker at a local Christian school for their elementary chapel. And I felt led to share the message prepared for them. I pray that this can be a resource for you, your families, and even your community to bring our children and even us as adults closer to Jesus. To help all of us draw closer to him, inviting Him in all the areas of our lives.

I hope you enjoy it.

What does God want us to do with the special talents He gave us?

We all have special gifts from God, even if we don’t know what they are yet. But now the question we are gonna try to answer today is What do we do with them?!

First, we need to understand that our talents and or gifts are no accident; they are a gift from God.

In James 1:17, the Bible says.

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. ”

‭James‬ ‭1‬:‭17‬ ‭CSB‬‬

It is not something that we go buy in a store and choose for ourselves. Today I want to be a great artist, so imma go to Amazon and buy myself the Artist Talent starter kit and wait to be delivered.

God already set a special talent for you based on the special purpose He created you for.

 1. Is knowing that my gift/ talent is designed and given by God for You

Once we understand that our talent/gift is designed by God specifically for us.

Now we need to realize that those talents are not only for us. There for us to share with God's people. And to introduce God to others who may not know Him yet. With our talents, we get to serve others. And show the love and kindness of Jesus. To everyone around us.

I’m 1Peter 4:10, the Bible says.

“Just as each one has received a gift, use it to serve others,  as good stewards of the varied grace of God.”‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭4‬‭:10‬ ‭CSB‬‬

“In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. Romans‬ ‭12‬:‭6‬ ‭NLT‬‬

2. My gifts are not for me.

Now that we know that our talents are from God, to serve others, we also need to know that God expects us to use and take care of our talents. In ground-up words we call it being good stewards.

And in a lot of time we use that word to refer to money, but God calls His people to be good stewards of every good gift he gives us, not just our money but also our time, our friends, and or talents.

By developing it (practicing), but using it

Does anybody remember the parable of the talents in Matthew 25 where a master is going on a trip and gives his servants money or coins, and goes on his trip. And when he came back, he asked the servant what they did with that money.

But what if today we see another side of that same story, see it a little different today

(This is what is so cool about the Bible, the same story can teach us multiple things 💗)

And instead of being money in the parable, what if we see it as our talent/gift and the Master as God.

We are the servants, and He’s giving us a special gift to each one of us, and he’s going on the trip, but one day he’s gonna come back and he’s gonna ask us what we did with our talents

…and some of us are say we to share the good news of your others are gonna say we Performances to share the message of God others are say I taught people about you or I your love or I serve people and dedicated my time to cooking for the needy or making clothes for the people who are cold in the winter or whatever you’re telling is and you use it for the glory of God

But do you remember in the parable this one servant who takes his talent and does nothing with it, and when the Master comes back, he was mad and disappointed with the servant.

We are going to be. Asked the same question when we are face-to-face with Jesus one day. What did we do with the special talent he gave us?

And I pray that all of us can tell Jesus exactly what we did with our talents. The cool thing is, we don’t have to do it alone or try to figure it out all ourselves because Jesus promised that he is with us. In Deuteronomy 31:6 says…

“So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the Lord your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you.” Deuteronomy‬ ‭31‬:‭6‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Even though God gave us these talents to use for the benefit of others, he wants us to take care of them/ be good stewards of our gifts. He also promises us. That we don’t have to do it alone. He will help us and guide us every step of the way as long as we choose to follow him.

So remember

1. Is knowing that my gift/ talent is designed and given by God for You

2 My gifts are not for me.

3 I will use and take care of our talents

You guys think we can all do that?!

I pray you guys enjoy it and find value and share wit your little ones.
